"Out of obedience to Jesus"--based on Belhar Article 5--suggested tune: RENDEZ A DIEU,  98 98 D  (Rejoice #119)

Out of obedience to Jesus,

we who believe must now confess

faith in surrendered power that frees us,

called as disciples, called to bless

all of creation by our labors.

We give our broken lives to aid

each child in need, not only neighbors,

marked by God, in whom we are made.

Living obedience to Jesus,

we must face up to pain and death.

Setting aside the things which please us,

finding our life in Holy Breath,

standing with people, poor, forgotten,

against the state, the shop, the board,

spurning the shiny for the rotten,

walking the path of Christ the Lord.
