"Called to be salt, we share the flavor"--based on Belhar Article 3--suggested tune: RATHERVUE, 98 98 88 by Alfred V. Fedak (in Sing to our God New Songs of Rejoicing, Selah Publishing)

Called to be salt, we share the flavor

      of God’s strong Spirit, lively Word

with broken people who might savor

      the sweet communion we have heard

      and tangy joys that shall not cease

      if we live God’s whole righteous peace.

Called to be light for all the nations,

      we must help all the world to see:

there are no multiple salvations;

      only when joined are we set free.

      We shine the truth that all are one:

      All races share in God’s own Son.

Called to be bearers of the Gospel,

      let us reject ideas which break

our covenant too, loving, thoughtful,

      reach past each human gulf to take

      the hand of every God-made child,

      together washed and reconciled.
