In some places there is an organization of citizens who look out for one another's property, sometimes known as a neighborhood watch, supposed to deter vandalism and burglary.  The thought occurred to me that it would be good if a neighborhood also watched for things like kindnesses done for one another and random good deeds.  This seems especially true during the season of Christmas, for which this tune was composed, when the neighborhood that was watching saw the heavenly host in the sky and caught on that something amazing was happening.  If we are watching with our hearts open, we are likely to see amazing things, too, and do them as well.
