After the required three years of study at seminary, annual Classical examinations, and receiving the promise of a call from a congregation, the Classis of New Brunswick found me fit to ordain. On the day of Pentecost in 1992, the Classis gathered at the Reformed Church of Keyport for the service. James wrote a text for the occasion; I set it and named it for Keyport, the church where I had served as student minister and choir director.
