Nicholas and Elisabeth Gray are friends of ours from our Westminster days, and when we shared the news that we were expecting our first child, they rejoiced with us about having, as Nick said, a "Brummlet" on the way. They announced the anticipation of their first child around the time we were devising the Advent carol for the year 1992. In the same spirit, I named the tune after the little one for whom they were preparing, who turned out to be their son John.
