In the wilds of upstate New York there sits a house on Craver Road where our friends Iteke and Harvey Prins have lived for a good while.  Iteke and Harvey are Elders in the Reformed Church, and we met Iteke when she was serving the Blooming Grove congregation as organist, long before James became their pastor.  Alfred Fedak introduced us at a Hymn Society conference in Northfield, MN, when it was held at St. Olaf decades ago. Iteke and James were colleagues at Blooming Grove from the beginning of his pastorate there in 2000 until her retirement, and Iteke and I collaborated on a number of projects (take a look at Sixteen Scriptural Songs, Hearts Afire!, and Zaccheus, A Taxing Man), so when the time came to name this melody, James and I agreed it was time to honor Iteke and Harvey by naming it after the street where they live.  The road has been known as Craver Road since at least 1836, when John W. Craver owned land that abutted it.
