The
Reformed Church in America governs itself by means of presbyterian
polity, that is, the rule of elders. Elders are women
and men chosen from the congregation to oversee the spiritual life and health of
the congregation and ordained for life to that holy office. They
are joined by Deacons, men and women likewise ordained to that office,
who superintend the temporal affairs of the church. They, together
with the Minister of the Word and Sacrament, constitute the Consistory.
Our
Consistory meets every month on the second Wednesday at 7:00 in the
evening. All members of the church are welcome to attend our
meetings to observe or to bring business to the attention of the
Consistory. Advance notice of new business is appreciated—agendae
are usually distributed to Consistory members the Sunday previous to the meeting. |
