Curiosities | Inquiring minds may "want to know", but curious minds try to connect the dots among the things they have learned. Every once in a while I'll jot a note about some things I have found interesting about the way life works: nettles about language, silly stuff, pet peeves, and quotidian matters. | 09/23 | "Quotidian" means "everyday, ordinary", and stems from Latin. Funny how things we use every day get old and yet are still useful, and how some things we never knew existed become quotidian and even necessary. | 09/24 | Did you know that you can't raise children? You can raise wheat, pigs, the roof, and hell, but not your offspring. We are supposed to "rear" them. Maybe that's why spankings land where they do. | 09/26 | I am often appalled at how often there is laughter when injury occurs to another human. Maybe instant compassion is too much to expect, but is a simple "Uff da!"
